Genealogy

My latest intensive interest is the family genealogy. It hits all the right buttons with me. Other genealogists tend to be generous with information because it's reciprocal. There are a lot of people who have done a lot of work transcribing old records to make available for everyone. Plus it's all about organizing and sorting and getting all the data to line up in just the right way. Really, it's like an elaborate game only there is a product at the end that can be shared. It involves going to the library, which is always good.

So far, I have been working on my in-laws side of the family. We are lucky enough to have a copy of the detailed and accurate memoir of my husband's great-grandmother to work with and that has really provided most of the structure of the family tree. I have been busy confirming dates and filling in some blanks.

When my mom comes out, I will start on our side of the family.
