What fictional creature do you wish were real?

I wish existing animals came in abnormal sizes. And I don't just mean those little horsies; I mean a giraffe that could live in an aquarium and a bumblebee the size of a lapdog.

Do you have a green thumb?

I have enthusiasm.

My latest intensive interest is the family genealogy. It hits all the right buttons with me. Other genealogists tend to be generous with information because it's reciprocal. There are a lot of people who have done a lot of work transcribing old records to make available for everyone. Plus it's all about organizing and sorting and getting all the data to line up in just the right way. Really, it's like an elaborate game only there is a product at the end that can be shared. It involves going to the library, which is always good.

So far, I have been working on my in-laws side of the family. We are lucky enough to have a copy of the detailed and accurate memoir of my husband's great-grandmother to work with and that has really provided most of the structure of the family tree. I have been busy confirming dates and filling in some blanks.

When my mom comes out, I will start on our side of the family.

A month and a week with no Internet access at home. I have a few of my favorite websites collected on bloglines at least so I can read them. But it's particularly difficult to sort the information I want to archive, flipping back and forth between PDA applications. Or even between web pages, for that matter. The things I miss most critically are tabbed browsing windows and Jumpcut. After that, when I get back on a computer, I will be grateful for being able to see a URL by left-clicking a link, having easy access to my Amazon grocery and wish lists, and access to my bank accounts. Our checks for our checking account are from two mergers ago.

On the plus side, Vox mobile is nicely featured!
